Here at the Forestry Division, we want to make sure that your investment on your boulevard tree is worthwhile. There are several pests and diseases, some more harmful than others, that are prevalent in Bismarck.
The most common disease in Bismarck every year is Dutch Elm Disease (DED). Approximately twenty Elm trees are removed in Bismarck each year due to DED. Click here to view the map showing the history of DED.
The Forestry Division is also on watch for Emerald Ash Borer (EAB). EAB attacks Ash (Fraxinus) trees. It has not been found in the State of North Dakota; however, EAB has been found in other Midwest States, including Minnesota.
