Baseball Comes to Bismarck-Mandan with Terry Bohn

Wednesday, January 11, 2017

Mr. Terry Bohn, a resident of Mandan and a member of the Society for American Baseball Research, has recently completed a book on the history of baseball in the Bismarck-Mandan area and will present some of his findings to the Bismarck Historical Society on Wednesday, January 11, at the Bismarck Veterans’ Memorial Public Library at 6:30 P.M Reaching as far back as the occupancy of Fort Abraham Lincoln by the 7th U.S. Cavalry, Mr. Bohn’s power point illustrated review will discuss the growth and development of baseball in the Bismarck-Mandan area up to the World War I era. Topics, in addition to the effect the battle of the Little Big Horn had on “Benteen’s Base Ball Club,” will include Bismarck’s early teams, the coming of traveling teams, etc. The book, Sunday Afternoons on the Prairie: Baseball in North Dakota, has been in research, writing, and publication for about 4 years and will be available at the program. The public is invited. Refreshments will be served.
