NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the Board of City Commissioners of the City of Bismarck, North Dakota, will receive sealed bids at the Office of the City Administrator until Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at the hour of 3:00 p.m. local time, for the purpose of furnishing all materials, labor, equipment, and skill required for the Bismarck Water Treatment Plant FILTER MEDIA REPLACEMENT, and incidental items as described in the contract documents which are now on file with the Public Works Utility Department. Bids will be publicly opened and reviewed at 4:00 p.m. CDT March 6, 2018 at the First Floor Conference Room, City/County Building, 221 North 5th Street, Bismarck, ND.
The work consists of all labor, skill, and materials required to properly provide improvements to the 14 gravity filters generally described as:
One (1) Contract – All Construction (lump sum):
Removal, hauling, and disposal of all existing anthracite and sand media. Purchasing, shipping, storing, placement, cleaning, and disinfection of new media. The media consists of approximately 247 cubic yards of sand and 461 cubic yards of anthracite. Instructions, replacement, and details are provided in the bidding documents.
Bidder accepts all responsibility for obtaining hard copies and is accountable for all work in the bidding documents.

Bids shall be delivered to: Office of City Administrator, City/County Building, 221 North 5th Street, Bismarck, ND, or mailed to: Office of City Administrator, PO Box 5503, Bismarck, ND 58506-5503. Bidder shall assume all risk for timing of delivery method.
The work on all improvements shall be completed and ready for final payment no later than July 31, 2018, with a May 11, 2018 milestone set forth in the bidding documents. Should the contractor fail to complete the work within the time required, as set forth in the agreement, or within such extra time as may have been granted by formal extensions of time approved by the City and engineer, there shall be deducted from any amount due him the sum of $500.00 per day as compensation to the City for each day and every day that the completion of the milestone, substantial, and final work is delayed. The contractor and his surety shall be liable for any excess. Such payment shall be as and for liquidated damages and not as a penalty.
