[ARCHIVED] NDDOT Now Accepting Applications for JARC / New Freedom / Section 5310

The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) is accepting applications, within the Bismarck-Mandan Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) Area, for funding through the Section 5316 (Job Access and Reverse Commute – JARC), Section 5317 (New Freedom) Programs, and Section 5310 (Transportation for Elderly Persons and Persons with Disabilities). Job Access and Reverse Commute (JARC) program funds are available for projects that assist low income individuals in accessing jobs. The New Freedom formula grant program is intended to provide additional transportation tools to overcome existing barriers facing Americans with disabilities seeking integration into the work force and full participation in society. The Section 5310 formula grant program is intended to assist in meeting the transportation needs of the elderly and persons with disabilities when the transportation service provided is unavailable, insufficient, or inappropriate to meeting those needs. Organizations within the Bismarck-Mandan MPO area eligible to apply for JARC, New Freedom and/or Section 5310 funding may include State or local government agencies, Public transportation operators, Private nonprofit organizations, or Private providers of public transportation.

Applications for services within the Bismarck-Mandan MPO area must submit JARC, New Freedom, and/or Section 5310 funding applications to the Bismarck-Mandan MPO to ensure consistency with applicable plans and/or programs. The Bismarck-Mandan MPO area includes the jurisdictions of Bismarck, Lincoln, Mandan, and portions of Burleigh and Morton counties. It is anticipated that the JARC, New Freedom, and applications will be considered at the April 23, 2013 Bismarck-Mandan MPO Policy Board for possible acceptance. If applications are accepted by the Bismarck-Mandan MPO Policy Board they will be forwarded to the NDDOT to compete statewide for available funding.
