The Bismarck-Mandan Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) and the City of Bismarck have hired Gorrondona & Associates, Inc. to conduct a 2020 Pavement Condition Collection and Analysis project. The collection effort will begin July 31 and is expected to be completed by August 21.
For the project, Gorrondona & Associates, Inc. will use specialized vans or trucks with exterior mounted cameras that will drive select roadways and capture images of the road surface and surrounding curb area. The images are used to determine the state of the pavement and identify when rehabilitation or reconstruction of the roadway may be needed.
The project covers functionally classified arterial and collector roadways throughout the MPO area, as well as select local roads identified by the City of Bismarck. The MPO is comprised of five jurisdictions including: Bismarck, Lincoln, Mandan, and portions of Burleigh and Morton counties.
Drivers should be aware that these vehicles are in the communities. Collection vehicles are expected to drive in the outermost lanes of the roadway and will travel at the posted speed limit.
