1. Where on my home will the new endpoint be installed?: The new endpoint will be installed as near to the old location as possible.

2. Can I choose the location?: Unfortunately not, due to the operation of the equipment.

3. Can I paint the endpoint?: No, paint will interfere with the transmission.

4. My neighbor got a new meter, why am I only getting the box? I want a new meter.: The city utilities only directed the replacement of meters installed 15 years ago or before.

5. Will service be interrupted?: For meter exchanges your service will be interrupted briefly and the installation time for less than 30 minutes.

6. Do I have to pay for this?: No cost to you the customer as long as the meter being installed is the same size as the meter that is currently installed.

7. What is the frequency of the signal?: Itron ERT products use a frequency hopping Spread Spectrum technology and transmits 7 identical messages at different frequencies within the 902-928 MHz frequency range in the ISM band.

8. What is the duration of transmission?: •When programmed in Fixed Network mode the endpoint transmission duration time is 10MS.
•In standard handheld/mobile mode the endpoint transmission duration time is 7MS.

9. What is the frequency (time) of transmission?: •When programmed in Fixed Network mode, the endpoint transmits an SCM+ message at 10mw every 1 minute and a NIM message at 500mw every 6 minutes.
•In standard handheld/mobile mode the endpoint transmits only the 10mw SCM+ message every 10 seconds.

10. How will the City get the water meter readings?: The City will be getting the water readings the same way MDU gets their readings. The City will be using MDU's data collection system and the readings will be sent to the City from MDU.

11. Do I have to be home for the installation?: Yes, an authorized adult over the age of 18 must be present during the installation.

12. Why must there be 36 inches of clear space around the meter?: According to State and Local plumbing code all plumbing fixtures must be so installed with regard to spacing as to be accessible for working on meter or valves. Normal accessible working space is 36 inches.
