Animal Control Wardens

The Police Department has three animal control wardens. These wardens enforce city ordinances regarding the care and control of animals in Bismarck. They also provide advice regarding specific animal problems.

Duties

Animal control wardens also perform other duties within the Department, which include but are not limited to:
  • Making mail runs
  • Taking reports to the Court, City Attorney, etc.
  • Assisting police officers when requested
  • Taking reports regarding found and abandoned bicycles

Animal Ordinances

Animal ordinances in Bismarck control a number of animal issues, including:
  • Licensing
  • Noise or nuisance
  • Number of pets allowed
  • Impounding animals
  • Cruelty to animals
