Sandbag Removal and Disposal Plan

a. The anticipated start date for the Sandbag Removal and Disposal Plan in the City of Bismarck is August 24, and is subject to change due to heavy rains or significant weather events.
b. 12 zones are planned for curbside collection. The anticipated plan is to to run three collection points at a time in two-week periods. c. A zone map can be viewed below. Zones are numbered and ARE NOT numbered in the order of priority. Prioritization is based upon areas that are at the least risk of street flooding and river flooding
d. Citizens in each zone will be notified by letter seven days in advance of when they may place sandbags in the street, a minimum of 18 inches away from the curb so they do not block stormwater inlets or fire hydrants. The notification by zone information will also be placed on the City website, Facebook and Twitter, and distributed to all local media outlets.e. Residents are asked NOT to place sandbags on their street until they are notified. A visual cue will also be the placement of orange cones and barricades placed on the street in the zone identified for sandbag curbside collection.

Citizens are reminded to continue protecting their property and are advised not to take any sandbags down at this point. Residents will be notified when it is safe to remove protective measures.

Unused sandbags can be returned to the Bismarck Landfill during regular business hours from 8 am – 6 pm , Monday – Friday; 8 am – 4 pm Saturday.
