[ARCHIVED] Bismarck Police Promote Lieutenant, Sergeant

Today the Bismarck Police Department held a ceremony for two officers who were promoted effective March 1, 2014.

Cody Trom is being promoted to Lieutenant and is assigned to Patrol as a Shift Commander. He has been employed with the Bismarck Police Department since May, 1997. During that time Lt. Trom has worked on Patrol, Warrants, Narcotics and is currently on Patrol. During his career he has serviced as a Chemical Munitions Officer on the West Dakota SWAT team, member of the Clandestine Lab Team, Field Training Officer, and Defensive Tactics instructor.
Lt. Trom has a four year degree from Dickinson State University, and a two year Criminal Justice Degree from BSC. He has ten years of military service including four years in the Air Force, two years in Air National Guard and four years in the Army National Guard.

Mark Gaddis is being promoted to the rank of Sergeant and is assigned to Patrol. He began his law enforcement career with the Mandan Police Department in June of 1990. In June of 1991 he came to the Bismarck Police Department where he served as a patrol officer. In January of 1996 he moved to the Investigations Section where he handled a wide variety of cases from thefts to homicides. Prior to leaving the Investigations Section he was assigned as a Domestic Violence Investigator. In September of 2013 he transferred to Patrol in an Acting Sergeant’s position.
He is a graduate of Minot State University and Bismarck State College. He has conducted training in Defensive Tactics, Taser, Domestic Violence Investigation, and Sexual Assault Investigation. In 1997 and 2007 he received the Outstanding Officer of the Year award presented by the Bismarck Police Department. In 2003 He received the Abused Adult Resource Center’s Life Saver Award.

The Bismarck Police Department has a current authorized strength of 111 sworn officers and 29 civilians.
