[ARCHIVED] Downtown Implementation Task Force Seeks Input on Design Standards August 14, at Urban Harvest

The Downtown Implementation Task Force is seeking citizen input about the design standards they’d like to see in the Bismarck downtown area. On Thursday, August 14, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the task force will display several design concepts on the sidewalk in front of the Downtown Business Association, 204 N 4th St., during Urban Harvest. The impetus for this event is the implementation of Downtown Bismarck Sub-Area Plan.

Citizens will have the opportunity to indicate on the concepts displayed, the design concepts they’d like to see in the downtown area, by placing a green dot on the concept they favor, and a red dot on the concept they don’t select, a process known as “Dotocracy”, which is a transparent, equal opportunity, and participatory large group decision-making tool.

Some of the concepts displayed will include such items as an empty parking lot vs. an embellished parking lot; materials on the outside of a building, brick vs. stucco; reflective glass vs. transparent glass, etc.

“Our goal is to really engage the public and get them involved. We want their input! This is a fun and easy way for our citizens to tell us what they like and what they’d like to see in the downtown area,” said Brenda Smith, Co-Chair, Implementation Task Force.
