[ARCHIVED] Bismarck Fire Department Responds to House Fire

At 10:40 AM on Tuesday, December 30, the Bismarck Fire Department responded to a report of a fire at 417 N 20th St.

The first arriving officer gave an initial report of a residential structure that was fully involved in fire. The occupants of the home met the fire crew and indicated everyone was out of the structure but there were several pets inside. The fire crew made an aggressive attack with handlines from the exterior of the building and bulk of the fire was knocked down quickly. At that time firefighters were able enter the structure to search for the pets and continue fire extinguishment. Three dogs were removed from the building and all of them appeared to be doing well. Two cats perished in the fire and one cat was found unharmed in the basement during the investigation. There were no injuries at this incident.

The home suffered heavy fire damage on the main floor and is considered a total loss. Fifteen fire personnel responded to the fire with 4 fire engines and 1 Command vehicle.

There was a fire at this home on November 6th, 2014. The cause of that fire appeared to be accidental. The cause of the fire occurring today remains under investigation.
