[ARCHIVED] City of Bismarck Hosts Community Listening Sessions on Housing Study

The City of Bismarck will host two community listening sessions about the Bismarck-Mandan Housing Demand Analysis on June 11 at 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the Tom Baker Room, City County Building, 221 N Fifth Street, Bismarck. An important activity of the analysis is to ask local residents about the housing needs of each community. The listening sessions will allow for community insight and feedback from citizens.

Representatives from Hanna:Keelan Associates, P.C., the research firm conducting the analysis, will present information on the purpose of the Housing Demand Analysis and report on preliminary data and survey results. The presentation will also include information on unmet housing needs, the type of housing units needed, the availability of land for housing and infill development, and the condition and cost of existing housing within the community.

The project, a joint effort of the cities of Bismarck and Mandan, will provide projections for new housing needs throughout the next 15 years. Community input began in May with the Bismarck-Mandan Citizen Housing Survey, available at www.bismarcknd.gov or www.cityofmandan.com
through June 8, and continues with the June 11 listening sessions. Input will also be sought from city officials and key local housing stakeholders.

The project is funded in-part with a grant from NeighborWorks America/CommunityWorks ND, with the balance of project costs shared by the cities of Mandan and Bismarck, based on population.
