[ARCHIVED] Bismarck Fire Department responds to structure fire.

At approximately 01:07 AM on Thursday, January 25, 2018, the Central Dakota Communications Center received a report of smoke coming from the McDonald’s restaurant on the 4000 block of Miriam Avenue. The Bismarck Fire Department was dispatched to investigate. 

The first arriving fire crew reported a single story commercial structure with smoke showing from the exterior and fire visible inside. The fire crew established command and conducted a scene size-up. The fire crew deployed a fire attack hoseline and entered the structure to locate the fire. Additional fire units arrived and assisted with fire attack, primary search, extinguishment, secondary search, ventilation, and overhaul. The primary search of the building confirmed that no one was inside. Investigating fire crews found heavy smoke and fire within the kitchen area of the restaurant. Crews extinguished the fire with portable fire extinguishers and ventilated the building. Five fire department apparatus and 14 firefighters were dispatched to the scene. Bismarck Police Department assisted with scene control. Metro Area Ambulance was on scene to provide assistance. 

The fire was determined to be in the kitchen area of the restaurant and the building was unoccupied at the time of the fire. There was fire and heat damage to the kitchen portion of the building and smoke damage throughout. The cause of the fire has been classified as accidental.
