[ARCHIVED] Bismarck Fire Department responds to apartment fire

Residential Fire Update

Bismarck, ND – At approximately 10:10 AM on Sunday, August 1, the Central Dakota Communications Center received a report of a fire at an apartment building at the 2900 block of Warwick Loop. The Bismarck Fire Department was dispatched to respond. The first arriving fire crew arrived to find a three-story, three-unit apartment building with fire and smoke showing from the roof of the building and residents evacuated.

 

The fire crew established command and identified that the roof of the building and one side of the building were fully involved with fire. The fire crew deployed hose lines to two exterior sides of the building and began extinguishment. As additional fire crews arrived they assisted to conduct an interior search, interior extinguishment. When a ladder truck arrived on scene, fire crews used the ladder master stream to extinguish the roof. When the fire was extinguished an overhaul operation was conducted to find any remaining smoldering materials, and the building was ventilated of smoke.

 

Seven fire department apparatus and 22 fire fighters were dispatched to the scene. The Bismarck Police Department assisted with scene control. Montana Dakota Utilities assisted with securing utilities. Crisis Care Chaplaincy and American Red Cross were on scene to provide support to the building occupants.  

 

The building was occupied at the time of the fire. There were no injuries to the building occupants or first responders.  All of the building occupants, seven in total, were displaced by the fire.  The displaced have received assistance from the American Red Cross. A fire investigation was conducted and the cause of the fire has been classified as undetermined.
