Cordell Eckroth, 43, of Bismarck is under arrest after a burglary in progress was reported early this morning.
Around 4:59 a.m. this morning, officers responded to the area of the 1400 Blk of N 11th St after the resident reported seeing Eckroth break into the home on a doorbell camera. The resident was not home at the time. Neighbors also reported Eckroth throwing things out of the house. Patrol officers responded and attempted to make contact with Eckroth but were unsuccessful.
The West Dakota SWAT Team was called to assist, and a search warrant was issued for the residence. Negotiators and SWAT team members made several attempts to get Eckroth to exit the residence, but he continued to be uncooperative. Around 11:00 a.m., SWAT team made entry into the residence and was able to take Eckroth into custody. Eckroth was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries before being taken to the Burleigh Morton Detention Center and held on the charges of Burglary, Assault on a Peace Officer, Violation of a Disorderly Conduct Restraining Order and Resisting Arrest on a Felony.
