[ARCHIVED] Hours Expanding at Household Hazard Building

HHW Extended Hours Beginning 3/4/24The City of Bismarck’s Household Hazard Building is expanding its hours, beginning in March.

The new hours will go into effect beginning Monday, March 4. The expanded hours will be from 8 AM through 3 PM, Monday through Thursday. The facility is also open from 9 AM to 2 PM on the first and third Saturdays of each month. Previously this specific building was open from 9 am to 2 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and the first and third Saturdays of the month.

“More and more, we are seeing citizens that have items that may not be at the end of its useful life, but they no longer have space for them,” said the City of Bismarck’s Solid Waste and Landfill Superintendent Toby Sheldon. “Expanding the hours for this service allows individuals more days in the week, and more time each day to part with these items, and to help us keep them out of the landfill, if someone else has a use for it.”

The Household Hazard Building is a free resource for residents of Bismarck at the city’s landfill (2111 North 52nd Street). Residents may drop off paint, pesticides, electronics, household chemicals, light bulbs and batteries at the site. The location also includes a reuse room in which residents may take some of the items that are dropped off at the site, free of charge.
