[ARCHIVED] Bismarck Invites You to Participate in Drill – Test Damage Assessment Survey Tool

Bismarck Emergency Management invites Bismarck area residents and visitors to participate in a short drill to help test a new public input survey tool that may be used to help identify areas of impact following a tornado or high wind event.  After opening the survey, it should take about one minute to complete.

Bismarck area residents and visitors are welcome to participate in this drill (submit a survey response).   You may participate any time starting on Friday August 2nd at 8 AM.  The drill will conclude on Monday August 5th at 5 PM.

To participate in the drill, please access the survey tool  and report any level of fictional property damage as you wish from any location within the Bismarck or immediate area.   Definitions of the damage level categories along with photo examples are provided within the survey.   The survey is intended to be self-explanatory, and that is part of the test to ensure it is user-friendly.  The survey will be closed (unavailable) at the conclusion of the drill.

In the event a tornado would impact Bismarck, city departments including response agencies may use the information for planning and decision-making purposes to aid in response and recovery efforts.

Following an actual major storm event (ie: tornado), the availability of the survey will be communicated through various methods including the city’s website and social media.

Unfortunately, we cannot dedicate staff to assist individuals in the use of the survey tool during the drill.   If you have difficulty, please discontinue use of the survey.

After participating in the drill by submitting a damage assessment survey response, you’re welcome to share feedback on your experience with the damage assessment survey tool here.

Thank you in advance for participating in this community-wide drill as a practice test.
