First responder agencies including the Bismarck Fire Department, Metro Area Ambulance, and Bismarck Emergency Management, will be working with the 81st (ND) Civil Support Team (CST) to conduct two joint Hazmat exercises this week. The purpose of the exercises is to establish and refine valuable partnerships between local, state, and federal agencies in responding to incidents involving hazardous materials that may overwhelm local resources.
The first exercise will take place within the Cottonwood Park area in South Bismarck on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. Those nearby may see emergency response vehicles throughout the day, starting at about 7 AM. Residents are advised that there may be responder vehicle movement and operational response actions. Residents are asked to avoid areas marked ‘Exercise in Progress’ or ‘Training’ to ensure uninterrupted training and for safety. Bismarck Fire will be hosting a second drill with the ND National Guard CST at the Fire Station 4 Training Facility on Thursday.
Both activities are practice drills.
