FEMA Deadline Extended to Sept. 22 to Register For Disaster AidThe deadline to register for disaster assistance has been extended to Sept. 22 for individuals and business owners in nine North Dakota counties who suffered losses due to spring flooding. Calling any other local or state disaster hotline will not get you registered for FEMA assistance.

The deadline for submitting disaster loan applications to the U.S. Small Business Administration is also extended to Sept. 22. Call SBA at (800) 659-2955.
RSVP+ to Link Those in Need of Help with Sandbag Removal to VolunteersRSVP+ Central North Dakota will serve as the Bismarck community service organization that will meet the need of linking citizens in need of assistance with sandbag removal in the City to volunteers who can help them. Sign-up is underway for citizens who may have physical limitations and are in need of assistance with sand bag removal, and volunteers who can help. “Now is the time that volunteers are needed to assist those who need help removing sandbags. Volunteers are needed now!” Sandbag removal begins in identified zones in the City of Bismarck August 24.
American Red Cross Service Center Information and Clean-up KitsThe American Red Cross continues the initiation of its recovery phase in Bismarck. While some people are still unable to access their homes, many are anxious to learn their options and receive clean-up kits.
American Red Cross Service Center is located at the West Dakota Chapter office at 4007 State Street in Bismarck. The hours are 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday – Thursday; 8 a.m. – noon on Friday.
Red Cross client caseworkers are available to visit with people who would like to learn about the options available to them in the months ahead. Executive Director Janel Schmitz states, “Client casework is a way to shorten the learning curve for those affected by the flood. Residents can learn from experienced case workers and receive help developing a disaster recovery plan if they choose to do so.”
A meeting with a client caseworker takes 30-60 minutes depending on the amount of information requested by the client.
People affected by the flood will also be able to pick up clean-up kits at the Red Cross Service Center. The clean-up kit includes items such as work gloves, bleach, safety goggles, hammers, rake, shovel, cleaning water, and cleanup information.

Lutheran Disaster ResponseResidents of Morton and Burleigh Counties who need clean up assistance may contact the LutheranDisaster Response at 1-800-950-2901 for flood recovery assistance.
Resource Agencies Flood Team (RAFT)RAFT is a cooperative effort of faith-based and community-based agencies to assist disaster victims.RAFT Case Managers are now available to assist survivors as they recover from the spring flooding.
Each RAFT applicant works with a case manager to learn about pertinent services and resources andto develop a recovery plan. If there are unmet needs, the case manager presents individual cases to an
unmet needs committee or may access donations given to the community.
