[ARCHIVED] Bismarck Mandan Metropolitan Planning Organization to Hold Informational Meeting on Complete Streets

The public is invited to an informational meeting on Complete Streets, April 22, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Sertoma Community Room, Sertoma Park. The Sertoma Community Room is located next to the Super Slide Amusement Park just off Riverside Park Road between West Sweet Avenue and West Bowen Avenue in Bismarck. A nationally recognized professional, John LaPlante, will be on hand to provide a presentation as well as answer any questions related to the Complete Streets concept. The overview presentation is open to the public and will provide a background on the Complete Streets concept, explain how existing streets could be retrofitted into Complete Streets, and detail how Complete Streets may even save money.

LaPlante is currently Director of Traffic Engineering for T.Y. Lin International. Mr. LaPlante was previously with the City of Chicago for 30 years in various transportation engineering positions, including Chief City Traffic Engineer and Acting Commissioner of the new Department of Transportation.

Complete Streets are planned, designed and operated to enable safe access for all users. They allow for pedestrians, bicyclists, motorists and transit riders of all ages and abilities to safely travel along and across any street.
