Bismarck Police Detectives investigating a string of burglaries were checking local hotels for possible suspects when they were alerted to a suspicious person staying at one of the hotels. The suspicious person was not currently at the hotel, but, with his vehicle information and possible location Detectives located this individual outside the Cenex Station on Main St. in Mandan. This subject was determined to be wanted by the FBI for questioning related to a series of bank robberies across four states between May 15, 2012 and June 26, 2012.
After running a check for warrants, Detectives recognized Joshua M. Beckstead, 32 years of age, from a law enforcement intelligence bulletin previously received on June 29, 2012. The warrants check confirmed that Mr. Beckstead had a warrant out for his arrest for bank robbery out of Wyoming. With the assistance of officers from the Mandan Police Department, Mr. Beckstead was taken into custody without incident. Mr. Beckstead was brought to Bismarck PD for questioning regarding the burglaries and after questioning was transported to the Burleigh County Detention Center to be turned over to the FBI. The burglaries are still under investigation.
