The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) has lifted the Travel Alert for the Dickinson, Williston and Minot areas. However a Travel Alert remains in effect for the Bismarck area and is extended to the Jamestown, Valley City and surrounding areas due to blowing snow causing areas of scattered ice. The Travel Alert means motorists can still travel, but may encounter areas of challenging winter weather driving conditions and should use caution.

According to the National Weather Service, northwest winds gusting up to 35 mph will last through Wednesday afternoon. Temperatures warming to near freezing this morning have allowed partial melting of snow blowing across the roads. As temperatures fall roadways will begin to refreeze leading to slick road conditions.

Motorists should allow extra time to reach their destination and be alert to conditions that may make travel difficult, change rapidly, or cause travel delays. A TRAVEL ALERT has the potential to change to a NO TRAVEL ADVISED if conditions deteriorate.
