Don’t park on the parade route Friday night or your vehicle will be ticketed and towed. That’s the word from the Bismarck Police Department who is reminding citizens that Friday night, May 10th, is the Band Night Parade. “Every year we end up towing vehicles parked illegally along the parade route, and we ticket many more,” said Traffic Lieutenant Jeff Solemsaas. “Violators parked in the no parking zones along the parade route can expect a $10 ticket, and if their vehicle is towed a minimum $15 impound fee and minimum tow bill of $95.”
The parade follows the normal parade route. The parade starts at 6:30 PM at the Capital Grounds, goes down 6th Street to Avenue C, over to 5th Street and down 5th Street to the Civic Center. Temporary no parking signs will be put up on Thursday morning along the parade route. The temporary no parking enforcement along the parade route begins at 5:00 PM on Friday and continues until the parade is over.
Cars parked along the parade route not only spoil the view for spectators, but they also create potential problems for parade units that are especially wide. Enjoy the parade, but please don’t park in the no parking zones along the parade route.
