At 11:35 a.m. the Bismarck Fire Department responded to a report of a building fire at 1119 University Dr. #2004. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy smoke coming from the building. Crews located the fire in a bedroom. The fire was brought under control in about five minutes.
One adult and four young children were home at the time of the fire. They were able to escape with no injuries. A pet dog was brought to safety by firefighters. There were no injuries while battling the blaze.
The origin of the fire started in a bedroom where a young child was playing with a lighter. The family will be displaced for a few days while repairs are made. The Red Cross and Fire Department Chaplain are assisting.
