[ARCHIVED] Bismarck Police Urge Residents to Lock Doors

Bismarck Police are again urging the public to lock their doors after receiving two reports this morning where an intruder entered unlocked, occupied residences.

The first case occurred on the 700 block of North 21st Street at 5:21 AM. The female resident woke up to find a man in her bed with her. He ran out the door. She called police. The police checked the area without finding anyone. Entry is believed to have been made through the unlocked door.

While investigating this report, a 20 year old male who also lives on the 700 block of North 21st, but in a separate residence, reported to police that an hour earlier, around 4:21 AM, he saw a male window peeper looking into his window. He is described as a white male, brown scruffy beard, wearing a green neon checkered sweatshirt, blue jeans and had a black hat on backwards.

At 7:15 AM, a 25 year old Bismarck woman was going to her sister’s apartment at 407 West Century to pick up her child who spent the night. When she entered the apartment through the sliding door, which had been left unlocked so she could get in, she saw a man walk out of the sister’s bedroom. She asked what he was doing, and he fled out the front door. He is described as a white male, 5’8 to 5’10, 25 to 30 years old, dark scruffy beard, tanned skin, wearing a black or grey hoodie and a stocking cap with a hard bill.

No one was injured in any of the cases. All three cases remain under investigation. Police are urging residents to keep doors locked and to report any prowlers or window peepers immediately.
