At 10:52 pm, on Saturday November 30th, the Bismarck Fire Department responded to a report of a garage fire in the 800 block of South 17th St. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy smoke coming from the eaves of the garage, and fire visible through a window. Firefighters attacked the fire, and contained it to a corner of the garage, which received minor damage from the fire. The fire was confined to the garage, which was detached from the home.
The fire was reported by a neighbor. The residents had been unaware of the fire until fire crews started to arrive. There were no injuries to the residents. One firefighter was treated and released for a strained shoulder muscle.
Preliminary fire loss estimate to the garage and contents is $8000. The cause of the fire appears to have been accidental, and likely electrical in nature.
