The City of Bismarck Street Department pre-treated the emergency routes and major arterials with anti-icing liquids Friday morning to aid in prevention of ice covered roadways from today’s rain. City crews have been applying granular salt to streets since early this afternoon. We will continue to apply salt and sand to emergency routes, school areas, and major arterial streets this afternoon and through the weekend.

We want to remind motorists that even with the preventative measures taken by the Public Works department, some roads may become icy as temperatures begin to drop below freezing. Drivers are reminded to slow down, keep extra room between vehicles, and drive at speeds appropriate for the road conditions.
