[ARCHIVED] Bismarck Police Release Suspect Name in Aggravated Assault

Bismarck Police have released the name of the person they are seeking in connection with an aggravated assault that happened this morning.

The suspect is Richard Lee Gourneau, Sr., 57 years old, Native American, 5’8, 170 pounds, brown eyes and black hair. Anyone with information on his location is asked to call the Bismarck Police Department at 223-1212 or your local law enforcement agency.

This morning at 10:26 am, Bismarck Police responded to 1119 University Drive for a report of an aggravated assault involving multiple victims. Metro Ambulance was dispatched and arrived at the scene. The suspect was not at the scene when police arrived.

There were five victims who were all assaulted in one mobile home. All victims have been transported to Sanford Health. Two victims are in ICU, one with a head injury. Two victims are adults and three are juveniles. Preliminary information is that at least one of the injuries was caused by a baseball bat.

Bismarck Police investigators responded to the scene, and are in the process of trying to locate the suspect. The suspect is the ex-boyfriend to one of the victims, who lives in the mobile home where the assault occurred.
