[ARCHIVED] Combined Communications Center Observes National Public-Safety Telecommunications Week April 12-18

Each year, public safety organizations nationwide have recognized the critical role played by public safety telecommunicators, the thousands of men and women, who respond to emergency calls, dispatch emergency professionals and equipment, and render life-saving assistance to the world’s citizens.

The Bismarck-Burleigh Combined Communications Center is celebrating the second full week of April (April 12th – 18th) as National Public Safety Telecommunications Week. This week, sponsored by the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International, honors the thousands of men and women who provide the critical link between those in need of help and the help they need.

Mayor Seminary and Chairman Schonert have recognized National Public Safety Telecommunications Week and honored the Combined Communications Center’s staff by releasing official proclamations for the City of Bismarck and Burleigh County.

Center Facts:
- Authorized Staff: 22 Dispatchers, 3 Supervisors, Office Assistant, and Communications Director.- Minimum entry level pay per year: $35,917
- 24 x 7 rotating shift coverage- Six (6) redundant workstations
- 2014: 30,775 9-1-1 calls (76.8% wireless), 179,469 total calls, 152,511 CAD events- Serving Area: Bismarck, Burleigh County and the southeast portion of McLean County, including the City of Wilton.
- Agencies Served: Law Enforcement, Fire Services, and Emergency Medical Services throughout Burleigh County and related services located within the serving area.
