[ARCHIVED] Human Relations Committee Announces Human Rights Poetry Contest Award Recipient

Rylie Fode with Mayor, HRC members

Rylie Fode, a 6th grade student at Horizon Middle School, received the Human Rights Poetry Contest award for her poem “A Single Drop.”

The award was presented to Rylie by Mayor Mike Seminary in the classroom surrounded by her parents, classmates, teachers and Human Relations Committee member, Danielle Stuckle. Congratulations to Rylie on her outstanding achievement!

Each year the Mayor’s Human Relations Committee sponsors a Human Rights Essay and Poetry contest for students in grades 4 – 5, and grades 6 – 8, calling upon them to write an essay or a poem to foster increased awareness about human rights amongst students.

The mission of the Human Relations Committee is to protect and promote the personal dignity of all Bismarck citizens and to eliminate any discriminatory barriers that prevent them from reaching their full human potential.
