[ARCHIVED] Bismarck Human Relations Committee Announces Humanitarian Award Recipient

Humanitarian Award Recipient Judith Roberts, team members, Mayor Seminary, HRC, Nominator

The Bismarck Human Relations Committee has selected Judith Roberts as the recipient of the 2015 Humanitarian Award. She was selected for her dedication, mentorship and selfless service to women who are struggling with alcohol and/or drug addiction. Ms. Roberts was commended for her inspiration and dedication as the founder and Administrator of Hope Manor to provide sober living homes for women.

Judith was presented the Humanitarian Award by Mayor Mike Seminary and members of the Bismarck Human Relations Committee at an award ceremony held today. “I am blown away by the love and support the Bismarck community has shown to Hope Manor,” said Ms. Roberts. “I am honored to receive and accept this award on behalf of Hope Manor, our residents and the amazing and committed team of managers and supervisors here with me today.”

Judith Roberts serves as the founder and Administrator of Hope Manor, a sober living home for alcoholic women and was nominated by Ginger Rondeau. In her nomination letter Ginger describes Judith as one “who rescues women from the street…providing them with a safe, warm and supportive environment, thus saving women’s lives. Ms. Roberts holds the women of Hope Manor accountable so they are not a burden to society.”

Hope Manor was started in 2014, when Judith Roberts, a recovering alcoholic, was inspired to create a home for alcoholics who desperately needed a safe, stable and alcohol and drug free environment to recover from a life threatening addiction, and to be able to cross the bridge to sobriety and health. Hope Manor offers sober living homes for women who are struggling with alcohol and/or drug addiction.

“Judith is a shining example of humanitarianism through her selfless acts of advocacy, compassion and service. She improves the lives of women by providing them with an abstinence-based, safe and supportive residential environment that provides a way to recovery from alcoholism and drug addiction and to sobriety and health,” said Mayor Seminary. “Our community is a better place in which to live because of what you do.”

The mission of Hope Manor is to provide an environment in which women can recover from the devastation of drug and alcohol addiction and progress toward healthy families and communities. They seek to achieve a stabilized recovery from addiction, renew family relationships, and help reintegrate each woman back into the community.
