At 11:47 am today, the Bismarck Fire Department Hazardous Materials Response Team responded to a report of an unknown substance on the street at 1300 Industrial Dr. Upon arrival the firefighters spoke with a Public Works employee who called in the incident. An unknown substance was covering approximately a 20’ diameter area. The team tested the substance in an attempt to identify it. Before the team could identify the material, a bystander informed them it was from a tanker truck that was hauling corn mash from an ethanol plant to a farm to feed for livestock. As the mash warmed, it expanded and was released through a vent. The substance was determined to pose no danger to the public or the environment. The hauler was contacted and was coming back to clean up the site.
