At 6:31 AM on Friday, September 11, 2015, the Bismarck Fire Department responded to a report of a fire at the steamboat display at Steamboat Park on River Road.
The first arriving officer gave an initial report that there was a large amount of fire in the bow area of the boat. The fire crew advanced a hose line and had the bulk of the fire extinguished within 5 minutes.
Personnel from the Bismarck Parks and Rec Department were contacted and they came to the scene. The value of the steamboat is approximately $15,000.00 and the damage was estimated at $5,000.00.
Investigation of the fire found no obvious sources of ignition. The fire has been determined suspicious in nature and the cause is undetermined.
The fire department responded with 8 personnel on 2 fire engines and 1 Command vehicle. There were no injuries reported at this incident.
