[ARCHIVED] Snow Removal Operations Underway

City of Bismarck Roads and Streets Department crews have completed snow emergency routes and are currently working on major arterial streets and school emergency routes. They will move into residential areas late this afternoon into early evening.

Please view the Snow Emergency Route map in the link included below or interactive Snow Plow Routes and Zones map.

A reminder to businesses and residents: Please move vehicles off streets to aid in snow removal operations.

According to City Ordinance a person may not move, dump or deposit by any means any snow or ice accumulated on private property onto any public street, alley, or public right-of-way. The fine for this violation is up to $1,000.

City residents are reminded to clean all snow and ice from their sidewalk including the crosswalk of corner lots. City Ordinance 10-03-04 Removal of Snow and Ice, requires property owners to remove all snow and ice from their sidewalk within 24 hours of the snowfall. If it is not removed it may be removed by the City and the cost charged to the property owner.

It is the property owner’s responsibility to clear snow around their mailbox. For cluster boxes, it is the responsibility of all the mail recipients to clear the snow from around the box.

The Street Department will be removing snow in the Bismarck downtown “No-Parking – Street Cleaning” areas as follows. Cars will be towed if parked in the “No Parking” areas. The Bismarck Police Department will be ticketing and towing any vehicles parked on these streets and asks the public for their cooperation in refraining from parking in these areas during these times.

Businesses along these signed street cleaning areas, that have not already been cleaned, should have their sidewalks cleaned before midnight on their designated day. Please move vehicles off the street and keep them off the streets until snow plows are finished in your area.
