[ARCHIVED] CenCom Implements CodeRED for Emergency Alerting - Feb. 16 Test

In the event of an emergency, the Central Dakota Communications Center (CenCom) will now issue alerts through CodeRED, a new high-speed notification solution. The CodeRED system allows messages to be quickly delivered to targeted areas in Bismarck, Mandan and Burleigh County.

On Tuesday February 16, 2016 CenCom will be conducting a performance test of the system at 9:00 AM, contacting everyone in Bismarck, Burleigh County and Mandan who is currently in the emergency database. Receiving a test message will assure that residents will receive a message when an actual alert is issued by local officials. Bismarck, Burleigh County and Mandan residents who have not previously enrolled to receive emergency notifications, or did not receive a test message, may enroll by visiting www.cencom.bismarcknd.gov.

All you need is internet access to complete your registration. Required information includes first and last name, street address (physical address, no P.O. boxes), city, state, zip code, and primary phone number. Additional phone numbers may be entered as well.

CodeRED gives those who want to be included an easy and secure method for inputting information. The data collected will only be used for emergency notification purposes such as in the case of missing children, boil water advisories, shelter-in-place alerts and events that may impact the safety of persons or protection of property.

Questions may be directed to the Central Dakota Communications Center (CenCom) at 701-222-6727.
