At 8:52 PM on Sunday, March 13, the Bismarck Fire Department responded to a report of
a structure fire in Bismarck at 151 Boise Ave. The first arriving crew gave an initial report of the siding of the building on fire, established command and proceeded to extinguish. The bulk of the fire had been put out by residents with containers of water. Command established hand lines for possible fire attack.
The remaining fire was contained on the exterior of the structure. Command then checked for possible extension into the structure, none was found. Investigation of the scene indicated that the fire likely started as a result of discarded smoking material into shrubbery next to the structure which ignited and melted the vinyl siding on the outside of the property. There were no injuries and no one was displaced.
The Bismarck Fire Department reminds everyone that improperly discarded smoking materials start many fires. Be responsible for your smoking materials and make sure they are completely extinguished and put them in a non-combustible container after use
