Around 8:40 PM on Sunday, March 27, 2016, the Bismarck Fire Department
responded to a report of smoke coming from the garage at this location. The first arriving crew
gave an initial report of smoke coming from around the overhead door, established command,
laid a fire attack hoseline and proceeded to find the source of the smoke, nobody was home.
Investigation discovered that a battery charger had malfunctioned and burned, in turn it ignited
an aerosol can and the can exploded. Fire was quickly extinguished. Interior crews then
checked for possible extension into the structure, none was found. Crews used high pressure
vent fans to remove smoke from the home and garage. Seventeen fire suppression people were
dispatched to the scene. There were no injuries from the fire and no one was displaced. There
were a dog and a cat in the home, both were rescued and reunited with their owners. Bismarck
Police Department and Metro Area Ambulance assisted with the incident.
