North Washington Street will be open to limited travel south of 43rd Avenue / Ash Coulee Drive with one lane of traffic in each direction, prior to the first day of school. Bismarck Public Schools will be back in session on August 25. Motorists and students should exercise caution in the area.
Motorists are asked to use extra care throughout the city during school hours and to be especially attentive to students crossing roadways.
At the intersection of 43rd Avenue / Ash Coulee Drive and Washington Street, one lane for thru traffic will be provided in each direction. On each approach there will be exclusive right, thru traffic, and left turn lanes. The traffic signal system at this intersection will be in operation. Pedestrian sidewalks and trail access will be limited within the construction area.
At the intersection of LaSalle Avenue and Washington Street, a pedestrian traffic signal will be in place for students to cross. North of the 43rd Avenue / Ash Coulee intersection, traffic will be limited to one lane in each direction.
The Washington Street project remains under full construction and is expected to be substantially complete late this fall.
