[ARCHIVED] Possibility of Pedestrian, Vehicular Traffic Delays at Capitol Friday Afternoon

Bismarck Police are advising the public of the possibility of heavier than usual vehicle and pedestrian traffic Friday afternoon in the area of the ND Capitol.

There is a public demonstration scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. Friday September 9 on the south lawn of the Capitol Grounds. This is related to the issues concerning the Dakota Access Pipeline. The event is scheduled to run until 6:00 p.m.

Bismarck Police will be advising residents in the immediate area via telephone. Notification will be going out at 7 p.m. Thursday night, and again at 7 a.m. Friday morning. This is merely to advise area residents with notice of the demonstration and the possibility there may be larger than normal vehicle and pedestrian traffic in the area. Traffic on streets adjacent to the Capitol Grounds may be affected by the demonstration. There are no street closures planned at this time, but police are prepared to block off Boulevard Avenue from 4th Street to 7th Street if necessary.
There is also a run/walk scheduled to leave Memorial Bridge at 2:00 p.m. going to the Capitol.
