This morning at 8:26 a.m. Bismarck Police responded to report of a robbery in progress at the 3200 block of East Rosser Avenue. Because the caller stated the suspect was armed with a handgun and had left the crime scene, there was a brief shelter-in-place at Rita Murphy Elementary School this morning. Two Bismarck Police School Resource Officers arrived at the school and conducted a walk-through of the school and grounds to insure the suspect was not at the school. At 9:26 a.m. there was no reason to believe there was any danger to the school or students so at that time the shelter in place was lifted. The two officers were at the school from 8:26 a.m. until 9:26 a.m. as was the school district safety officer.
The robbery victim states he was assaulted by the suspect, who took a laptop and left the apartment building in an unknown direction.
Bismarck Police are currently interviewing a person of interest. The case is under investigation.
