[ARCHIVED] Bismarck Fire Department responds to a structure fire on 500 block of Aspen Avenue.

Around 5:50 PM on Tuesday, November 29, 2016, the Bismarck Fire Department responded to a report of a garage fire on the 500 block of Aspen Avenue in Bismarck. The first arriving crew gave an initial report of fire showing, established command, laid a fire attack hoseline and proceeded to the garage to fight the fire. They confirmed that all occupants were out of the home. The bulk of the fire was quickly extinguished. Interior crews then checked for possible extension into the living area of the structure, none was found. Exterior firefighting involved exposing structural components to determine if there were any hidden fires; there were not. Crews used high-pressure vent fans to remove smoke from the home and garage. Fifteen fire suppression people were dispatched to the scene.

Fire department chaplain was called to the scene to assist the family. MDU was called to the scene to secure utilities. There were no injuries from the fire. The occupants, a family of two, were displaced as a result of the fire. Bismarck PD and Metro Area Ambulance assisted with the incident.

The fire appears to have started in the engine compartment of one of the vehicles in the garage. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage as did the entire garage area. Fire did not spread into the living area of the home.

The Bismarck Fire Department would like to ask you to “adopt a hydrant” and keep fire hydrants clear from snow.
