The City Roads and Streets Department is prepared for a potential winter storm forecasted for this weekend.

As the winter storm begins, snow plows will be working 24 hours a day, on emergency routes and major arterial streets to keep them open.  Blowing and drifting snow will be an issue in open areas due to the existing snow pack that was received at the end of November.  Plows will work to keep the emergency routes and major arterial streets open during the high wind event.  We will plow residential streets if we get over 4 inches of snow, or as needed due to blowing and drifting.

A reminder to businesses and residents:

Please move vehicles off streets to aid in snow removal operations.

According to City Ordinance a person may not move, dump or deposit by any means any snow or ice accumulated on private property onto any public street, alley, or public right-of-way. The fine for this violation is up to $1,000.

It is the property owner’s responsibility to clear snow around their mailbox.  For cluster boxes, it is the responsibility of all the mail recipients to clear the snow from around the box.
