[ARCHIVED] Bismarck Police Promote Five Officers

Today the Bismarck Police Department held a ceremony promoting five officers to the rank of Sergeant. The officers promoted are Mike Bolme, Tim Bleth, Loren Grensteiner, Arial Thompson, and Dustin Miller.

Sergeant Bolme has been employed with the police department since 2003. Besides the Patrol section he has worked in Traffic and Investigations. He is a former member of the West Dakota SWAT team and a Field Training Officer. Sergeant Bolme has received numerous awards from the department including Officer of the Year in 2005.

Sergeant Bleth has been employed with the police department since 2006 and has worked in the Patrol and Traffic sections. He has extensive training and experience in vehicle crash reconstruction and is a certified instructor in various traffic related topics. Sergeant Bleth is also a former member of the West Dakota SWAT team and a recipient of the department’s Meritorious Service award.

Sergeant Grensteiner has been employed with the police department since 2003 and has worked in the Patrol and Investigations sections. He has been a member of the West Dakota SWAT team since 2005 and became an assistant team leader in 2015. He is also an instructor for the SWAT team.

Sergeant Thompson has been employed with the police department since 2012 and has served in the Patrol section prior to her promotion. She has specialized training in the department’s arrest and control tactics and assists in the training of new recruits. Sergeant Thompson is a past recipient of the Badge of Hope award given out by the Abused Adult Resource Center.

Sergeant Miller has been employed with the police department since 2009. Besides Patrol he has worked in Investigations and most recently the department’s training section. He has been a member of the West Dakota SWAT team since 2011 and became an assistant team leader in 2016. He is a past recipient of the department’s Distinguished Service Award.

The newly promoted Sergeants will receive their duty assignments with-in the next few weeks.
