Mayor Seminary has proclaimed March 22 - April 4, 2017, as A Season for Nonviolence, and encourages all citizens to participate in local, national, and global education and community action campaigns to honor those who are using nonviolence to build communities that respect the dignity and worth of every human being and has further resolved that citizens of Bismarck, the capitol city of North Dakota, have a great opportunity to focus the hearts and minds of our citizens on nonviolence in recognition and celebration of A Season for Nonviolence.

The Bismarck Human Relations Committee works to make education a meaningful and visible strategy to recognize the value of a diverse community and to promote acceptance and respect for diversity through educational programs and activities to discourage all forms of discrimination.  In support of and action to honor those who are using nonviolence to build communities that respect the dignity and worth of every person, the Human Relations Committee recently co-hosted “The Butler,” a movie event showing in observance of Black History month and will recognize a Human Rights Essay and Poetry Contest student award recipient in the coming weeks.

The committee is currently seeking Humanitarian Award nominations for an individual, business or non-profit organization that has exhibited leadership in the area of human rights. Nominations end March 31. Nominate someone today! Humanitarian Award nomination form
