[ARCHIVED] Bismarck “Walk Your City” Signage Campaign Installation March 31

WYC Signs 2

The first 10 signs of Walk [Your City]: Downtown Bismarck wayfinding signs will be installed Friday, March 31, 1:00 pm.  Walk [Your City] helps boost the community’s walkability, linking informational street signs and giving pedestrians and bicyclists wayfinding signage, as well as estimated times to points of interest and unique destinations to complement traditional approaches to wayfinding. Each sign points to the destination with estimated walk times.

Walk [Your City]: Downtown Bismarck is a partnership between GO! Bismarck Mandan and the  Downtowners Association, with permission from the City of Bismarck to create, install and monitor the progress of the signage campaign throughout downtown Bismarck.

Walk [Your City] is a speedy, low cost alternative that provides wayfinding to points of interest that encourage people to walk when exploring Bismarck. All signs point to public places, theaters, or points of interest—with the option to scan the sign and get more specific online map directions to places such as theatres, the public library, parks, Alley Art, and historic places and encourages walking and biking in neighborhoods.

The privately funded campaign is tentatively scheduled to run throughout 2017. Ten additional signs will be installed in coming weeks. Many signs will be placed in high traffic pedestrian areas.

GO! Bismarck–Mandan has several walking events scheduled for April Walking Month.
