[ARCHIVED] Bismarck Fire Department responds to structure fire

At 11:22 AM on Sunday, April 9, the Bismarck Fire Department responded to a report of a Structure fire at 2412 Ave C East in Bismarck.   The first arriving crew gave an initial report of fire showing, established command, laid a fire attack hoseline and proceeded to the north side of the structure to fight the fire.  They confirmed that all occupants were out of the home.

The bulk of the fire was quickly extinguished. Interior crews then checked for possible extension into the living area of the structure, none was found. Exterior firefighting involved exposing structural components to determine if there were any hidden fires; there were not.  Crews used high pressure vent fans to remove smoke from the home and garage.

Fifteen fire suppression people were dispatched to the scene.  The Fire department chaplain was called to the scene to assist the family.  MDU was called to the scene to secure utilities.  There were no injuries from the fire.  The occupants, a family of five along with two dogs and a cat, were displaced as a result of the fire.  No one was injured during the fire.  The Bismarck Police Department and Metro Area Ambulance assisted with the incident.  The fire appears to have started in a storage shed directly adjacent to the structure and spread into the eaves and garage of the home.  The fire did not spread into the living area of the home.  Cause of the fire is under investigation.

With the beginning of the outdoor recreation season the Bismarck Fire Department would like to remind you to make sure all recreational fires are fully extinguished prior to leaving them unattended.
