[ARCHIVED] Bismarck Fire Department Responds to Fire at Capital RV

At 8:58 AM the Bismarck Fire Department responded to a report of smoke coming from the Capital RV shop at 1900 Industrial Dr. Firefighters saw smoke coming from the area when they left the Sleepy Hollow Fire Station.  Upon arrival firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the overhead doors on the east side of the building and fire coming from the west side overhead doors.  The firefighter forced open doors and found fire in several motor homes on the north end of the shop.  The second crew on scene attacked the fire from the west side of the building.  Together the crews were able to knock down a good portion of the fire. They were unable to hit all of the fire, because the motor homes were parked closely together.  A pay loader was used to pull the burning motor homes out of the building so they could be completely extinguished.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the shop area and damage to the showroom was limited to smoke damage.  Crews remained on scene for several hours to check for remaining embers and hotspots.

No one was in the building at the time of the fire and no one was injured. No damage estimate has been made at this time but damage to the building is expected to be at least $1,500,000 and the damage to content is expected to be at least $1,000,000.
