[ARCHIVED] Bismarck Fire Department Responds to Fire Ramada Inn

On Friday, November 3, at 9:19 PM the Bismarck Fire Department responded to a report of smoke on the first floor at the Ramada Inn at 1400 E. Interchange Ave. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered light smoke on the first floor and heavy smoke on the second floor of the east wing. The building was evacuated when the firefighters arrived. Firefighters found fire on an outside wall around the ventilation unit. The fire was quickly extinguished but heavy smoke had already spread throughout the second floor. The firefighters checked rooms to assure everyone was evacuated. It took the crews almost four hours to ventilate the building.

Fifty‐six rooms were occupied with 90 occupants. Most occupants were able to return to their rooms with some being relocated to a different hotel. Preliminary fire loss estimate to the building and contents is $100,000. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The firefighters were assisted by a chaplain for the Crisis Care Chaplaincy Program, Bismarck Police Department, Metro Ambulance and Central Dakota Communication Center.
