[ARCHIVED] City of Bismarck Roads and Streets Department Snow Removal Update

Update 3/5/18 at 2:30 p.m.

There is a lull in the storm and we are moving into the school routes.  We ask people to drive cautiously around schools areas when picking up their kids due to deep snow and possibly single lane traffic and snow removal equipment.  We will continue to keep emergency routes and major arterial streets passable during the storm.

3/5/18 at 8:00 a.m.

The City of Bismarck Roads and Streets Department has begun fighting the severe winter storm.

As the winter storm began Sunday night with freezing rain, sanders treated the emergency routes and major arterial streets.  Snow plows and sanders will work 24 hours a day, starting on emergency routes and major arterial streets, to keep them open. Blowing and drifting snow may be an issue with this storm.  Once the storm has passed and the emergency routes are open, plows will move into residential areas.

A reminder to businesses and residents:

Please move vehicles off streets to aid in snow removal operations.

According to City Ordinance a person may not move, dump or deposit by any means any snow or ice accumulated on private property onto any public street, alley, or public right-of-way. The fine for this violation is up to $1,000.

It is the property owner’s responsibility to clear snow around their mailbox.  For cluster boxes, it is the responsibility of all the mail recipients to clear the snow from around the box.
