The Burleigh County Highway Department announced the opening of the Tavis Road Flood Control Structure. With the structure now open, Bismarck residents will see a rise of 2.5 feet in the Denver Ave. drainage ditch as water levels rebalance with the river levels. It’s important to note that even with the rise over the next day, the drainage ditch level will be at a lower level than when the gate was first closed.
“We are starting to return to normal operations of our storm water facilities. The Corps of Engineers continues to decrease releases from Garrison Dam. This is slowly returning river levels near Bismarck back to normal conditions,” said Michelle Klose, Director, Utility Operations. Today the Corp reports inflow into Lake Sakakawea at 28,000 cfs, and releases from Garrison Dam are at 46,800 cfs.
